  The amiaCNC CNC conversion kit is aimed at the hobbyist or small machine shop owner or inventor who desires a compact, affordable yet precision CNC lathe for their work. The amiaCNC conversion will amaze you with the new found precision and repeatability in your lathe!

We specifically chose the late model 12 inch Atlas/Craftsman platform as the basis for our CNC conversion kit. We wholeheartedly believe this platform (1957 and newer versions of the 12 inch swing metal cutting lathes) provides the best combination of:

    • upgradeability

of all other lathes in its size class, even over brand new lathes.

Other similar lathe models from the past, or even brand new models currently available, in our estimation, do not equal the beneficial overall combination of the above features provided by the 12 inch Atlas/Craftsman lathe platform.

Advantages to the 12 inch Atlas/Craftsman lathe platform:

• The castings and overall design are an efficient lightweight design, compared to other similar lathes, yet overall it still results in a rigid combination with a large working envelope in a compact footprint.

• It can be easily disassembled into even smaller and lighter pieces, and transported by one person and reassembled piece-by-piece at its final location. Other lathes are hard to disassemble, or are of exceptionally heavy design, meaning simply too massive of a weight to move without forklifts. In addition, the separability of individual components allows upgrades to be easily integrated, including to CNC.

• It runs on 110V power. You can run it from a regular wall outlet with out any need for special wiring or 3 phase converters.

• It is exceedingly popular, many were made, and parts are readily available and there are many used parts available.

• The lathes remain still less expensive to purchase than the other similar lathe models.

These platform advantages carry over into the converted amiaCNC lathe:
